When I am looking for inspiration to begin a new series of paintings I look in a variety of places and at first I am drawn to the design and then the colors of the area. On this day I was surrounded by swamps, decaying vegetation and a pile of alligators! I decided to challenge myself and push through the non-descript colors to look for the "Beauty Within". I think it's a decent challenge to try to see past the surface "mud" and look to see what is beneath as we all might have a bit of color left in us to share! I am pleased with the outcome of this painting as I can see how there is beauty even in the ordinary. Aren't all creations worth a second look? Thank you for visiting!

I'm always early for appointments. As I was standing around waiting for my day to begin the morning I saw this scene I was captivated by the strong sunlight on the back of the old building and as a result of the yellow glow on the building the shadows leaned towards purple. I did exaggerate the colors but I wanted to draw the viewer into the scene to suggest we look again at the simple shapes the light can reveal and to also realize that even the shadows have color and a story to tell. The shadows are just waiting for the Light to move over them to expose their beauty. Maybe you can discover some depth to an otherwise ordinary scene...so much to discover! Enjoy the day and the Light that leads the way!

“Headed For Home” is the title for this painting and this time it seemed to name itself! I occasionally have a painting that not only paints itself (almost) but also has a strong identity. Home means different things but this painting tells the story of our hearts longing to be home, in a place of safety and comfort, a place we can be welcomed. The light is always on and leading us back home no matter where our travels lead. The light shown here represents to me the light of Christ as He leads the way home. I can’t add anymore to that!

As an artist I spend many hours alone to complete my work and it does provide time to think. Sometimes I get distracted but often my thoughts find themselves reflected in my work. The meaning behind this painting is complex but to simplify I am suggesting that it is important to take time to be still. “In The Stillness Lies The Truth” is the title I chose hoping to hint at a positive practice of stopping and looking around and listening as the answers to our thoughts and prayers are very close, it’s the listening we struggle with. Thank you for stopping and spending time with my painting!
