Any moms out there? I am so grateful to be a mom and although my son is no longer "little" I just love when we get to hang out! While visiting with friends I watched these two and they just reminded me of fun times with my own child. The years go by so quickly and those many seasons of motherhood are very special to me. With this painting I wanted to show a mom and child just being in the moment, hanging out, being content with each other...a peaceful moment, "Hanging Out With Mom"! Enjoy!

FRESH OFF THE EASEL 

 It is easy to forget in the midst of drama that we can actually find peace. A while ago I was grateful to have been able to spend time at a friend's place, enjoying the sun, breeze and "4-legged family members"! Seems that I find myself going more often to the open country to just be still to find the calm we often need. I wanted to create a painting that expressed the feeling of being away from the constant turmoil we have all been dealing with and to just relax with the beautiful blue sky and the quiet surroundings. My hope is that you too will be able to take a deep breath and relax as you view this painting... Remember, "All Is Good"!

Contemporary Landscape, Tree Painting, "Did You Pause to Breathe?", By Passionate Purposeful Painter Holly Hunter Berry

Rushing to go from here to there especially now that we are out and enjoying more freedom can cause a bit of anxiety. Actually ,don't most of us tend to "over-do"? I think we tend to forget to slow down, look around, express gratitude for where we are and what we have and then...BREATHE! This scene was inspired by view from a field that I encountered on an adventure with a friend. We decided to be spontaneous and took the day to explore and yes we slowed down to breathe! This was painted with an assortment of bold colors, textures and charcoal that then developed into somewhat of an impressionist painting with a bent towards abstraction...so I suppose this could have been anywhere! Hope this inspires you to walk in gratitude as you slow down, look around and say..."Thank You"!

Hard to believe but the inspiration for this painting was a view of an area that was dry, with dead leaves and very few patches of green. I decided to paint this as I imagined it could be, filled with color and exaggerated brushstrokes on a vibrant red background. Yes, now this tells the story of what it could be or even what the area’s true identity really is.... Sometimes what our eyes perceive is not the whole truth, maybe there is more? Enjoy your day and practice looking a bit longer at your surroundings and maybe more will be revealed!

We can be so busy moving ahead and yearning to reach goals we think need to be met that we forget what is important. My grandfather said to me once, "you don't have to make all the mistakes, lean on the wisdom of others, learn from their mistakes!" I was inspired to create a scene that felt progressive and moving forward, but at the same time revealing a glimpse of a bit of the past, an old building, a previous home or safe place. Sometimes the answers are right where we started and we must not forget that. No matter our beginnings, they are our history, the landscape of our life story!
